Local Attractions

Located only 15 minutes from the hotel, Cork City and county provides visitors with an eclectic mix of attractions. Cork City itself is a hub of activity, offering a wide range of shops and a vibrant night life. Every October Cork hosts its famous Jazz Festival. The festival is in it's 26th year and has featured performances from many Jazz legends. The Cork Film festival also runs every October. Other places of interest in the city include University College Cork and the Cork Opera House. Cork was the European City of Culture for 2005

The County of Cork is the biggest in Ireland. There is a diverse mix of attractions on offer. Fota Wildlife Safari Park consists of 70 acres of open countryside with 90 species of exotic wildlife from 5 continents. Midleton is home to the Jameson Irish Whiskey Heritage Centre.

The Queenstown Heritage Centre tells the story of the millions of Irish people who emigrated to the USA from Cobh. The town of Cobh was also the last port of call of the Titanic before it continued on its ill-fated maiden voyage. Find out more at the Titanic Trail. West Cork is famous for its scenic beauty. Some of the beautiful towns and villages to visit include Skibbereen, Baltimore and Kinsale.

While in Cork you can visit Blarney Castle, home of the famous Blarney Stone. Any person who kisses the stone will be blessed with the gift of the gab.

Golf

Cork is home to some of Ireland's finest Golf Courses. The nearest course to the hotel is Fota Island Golf Club. This course was home to the Murphy's Irish Open in 2001 and 2002. The Old Head of Kinsale is a superb golf links, jutting out into the Atlantic ocean. Local Golf Courses in the area include East Cork Golf Club, Water Rock Golf Course and Feta Golf Club.

County Kerry

Neighbouring Cork to the North is the Beautiful County of Kerry. Some of the major attractions in Kerry include the busy town of Killarney, the tourism capital of Ireland. The world famous Ring of Kerry is filled with unspoilt beauty and has attracted many visitors for over 100 years. Further north lies the Dingle peninsula and Tralee home of the world renowned Rose of Tralee Festival

Cork has many miles of coastland and is home to Miles of golden, Blue-Flag beaches and quaint traditional fishing villages. It also has 120km signposted birdwatching trail, linking sanctuaries, estuary channels, mudflats, rock shoreline and Brackish lagoons. Harbour walks and coastal views. Traditional pottery and crafts locally. Deep sea angling & shore fishing.
