Family and Activities

The Hotel's location in the hub of East Cork allows easy access to many attractions which are ideal for family breaks. Our Reception Team will be happy to help plan your activities, discounts may apply when arranged through the hotel.  A brochure on East Cork attractions is downloadable at the end of this page.

 The following are some of the things to do in Cork: 

  • Fota Wildlife Safari Park (10 mins): 70 acres of open countryside with 90 species of exotic wildlife from 5 continents including giraffes and cheetahs – this is a must see!  Includes childrens play areas, Maxi zoo Train, picnic areas and a gift shop.  The “Family Fun at Fota” programme allows children to learn about cultural heritage and includes storytelling, cooking, planting wildflowers and bark rubbing.  Open year round except Christmas Day and St. Stephens Day. Monthly events include African Drumming Workshops, and the Birds of Prey Experience.  Other events held throughout the year include the Cheetah Run, the Carnivore Carnival, BOO at Fota for Halloween and Christmas at Fota.  Discount on this attraction available from the Midleton Park Hotel Reception for hotel residents


  • Garryvoe Beach (15 mins): Blue Flag beach, lifeguarded weekends only in June and 10am to 7pm daily in July and August (please verify at the beach on the day).

 

  • Youghal Beach (20 mins): A Blue Flag beach popular with families.  Dinghy racing, yacht racing, powerboating and cruises are just some of the activities available here.  Deep sea angling, quayside fishing along with dolphin and whale watching are also available.


  • Gate Multiplex Cinema (5 mins): Located just across the road from the hotel and showing the latest movies nightly - movie times available from Hotel Reception 

 

  • Go Safari (10 mins): Located in Carrigtwohill it features an indoor zip wire, 3 lane climbing wall, go karts, dedicated toddler area, playframe with 3 massive slides, mazes and bridges, a multi-sports area and a cafe.  Discount available from The Midleton Park Hotel Reception for hotel residents. 


  • Jungle World (5 mins): Kids play facility within easy walking distance of the hotel.

 

  • Outdoor Playground (5 mins): a public playground with a variety of well-maintained equipment is located within easy walking distance of the hotel and is free of charge.

 

  • Monkey Maze (15 mins): Europes largest indoor activity centre for U-12s it features 5 amazing slides, 2 indoor ball courts, a cannon target area and a seperate dedicated area for the under 5's.  Situated in Glanmire within easy access of The Midleton Park Hotel.


  • Trabolgan (20 mins): Activities include tennis, go-karting, abseiling, archery, live shows, mini-trampolines, paddle boats, aeroball, crazy golf and a kids corner. Activities are on a pay as you go basis and minimum ages apply.  Closed 31st Oct - March, special halloween theme for Halloween   Discount available for this attraction from the Midleton Park Hotel Reception for hotel residents.


  • Perks Fun Fair (30 mins): A tradition of over 80 years entertaining kids in East Cork it includes bowling, lazer zone, an adventure play centre, pool, a carousel, safari train, ladybird ride, video games, bumper boats, ghost blaster and of course Perky The Bear!  From September to March only open Fri/Sat/Sun; special halloween party for Halloween weekend; Santa Claus visits Fri/Sat/Sun from last week in November to Christmas Eve  Discount available for this attraction from The Midleton Park Hotel Reception for hotel residents


  • Ballyannan Wood Walk (5 mins): Mature mixed woodland located on the Owenacurra Estuary dating back to the mid 17th century.

 

  • East Cork Riding School (5 minutes): Established in 2005 and AIRE approved, both adult and childrens lessons are catered for.  A bridal path is available around the lands for "happy hackers" and it features an exams training centre.  Friendly and knowledgeable BHS trained staff.


  • Bridgefield Buggies (15 mins): This Quad bike safari is located in Castlemartyr. Children from 8 years up can enjoy this off-road trek through 9 miles of beautiful rugged countryside including a 17th century castle.


  • Leahys Open Farm (10 mins): Open Easter to September with a Christmas event in December, it comprises a crannog, claraghs gardens, animals, an adult maze, go-karting, a mouse shed, an outdoor play area and sandpit, a kiddies maze, crazy golf and leprechauns cave. Meet llamas, miniature ponies, pigs, lambs, monkeys, mice and even snakes!  Santas Village in December and Monster Easter Egg Hunt at Easter.

 

  • Lifetime Lab (25 mins):  Sutuated across the river from our sister hotel The Kingsley, this is a modern interactive exhibition featuring a themed playground, beautifully restored buildings and scenic views over the River Lee.  Located at the old Cork City Waterworks it also features a steam centre, picnic area, sensory gardens and a coffee dock.

 

  • Swell Surf (10 Mins): Situated at Inch Beach this is an Irish Surfing Association approved school providing surf lessons and equipment hire.  Suitable for adults and children and featuring a weekly surf academy for ages 8 - 18 yrs and surf camps.


  • Mahon Point Shopping Mall (15 mins): One of the largest shopping centres outside of the Capital, it also features a multiplex cinema
